Basic Tabla Beats

The 1st beat of the cycle is the sum, all improvisations, breaks, and set rhythms will end on the sum.

All rhythms are broken down into small divisions, for example Teental which is a 16 beat rhythm, is 4+4+4+4.

There is a clapping systems which is used to help keep the time, either it is a clap, Tali, or an open/silent clap, Khali. The Tali or Khali will be the first beat of each section. So with Teental there is a Tali on the 1st, 5th, 13th beat, and on the 9th is a khali.

X=Tali, O=Khali
